Omar Flores

San Miguel Class of 2019 | Episcopal High School ’23 | Babson College ’27

Omar Flores is a pioneer whose journey continues to expand what is possible for San Miguel students.

After graduating from San Miguel in 2019, Omar made history as the first alumnus to attend a boarding school, earning admission to Episcopal High School. His willingness to step into an unfamiliar and highly rigorous environment not only shaped his own future, but it also created a pathway that others have since followed.

At Episcopal, Omar thrived academically and personally, embracing the challenge of being surrounded by talented peers who pushed him to grow. It was there—and first instilled at San Miguel—that he developed a guiding principle: never be the smartest person in the room, because that’s where real learning begins. He credits San Miguel for teaching him the power of small, mission-driven communities. Everyone benefits when individuals are aligned, motivated, and committed to a shared goal. Just like the culture at San Miguel.

Dr. Palank, then Principal Palank, awarding Omar with the Martin Moran Scholarship.

That mindset is captured in a phrase Omar lives by: “Do hard things because they are hard.”For Omar, growth is not accidental; it is intentional. It is why he consistently seeks out challenges that stretch him beyond his comfort zone.

Today, Omar is a junior at Babson College, studying Business Analytics and preparing to launch his own business after graduation. His leadership and potential have already been recognized at the highest level. He is a recipient of the prestigious Arthur M. Blank School for Entrepreneurial Leadership Scholarship, a full-tuition award given to students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, entrepreneurial mindset, and a deep commitment to values such as putting people first, innovating continuously, and giving back to others.

Omar is already living out those values. As a certified personal trainer, he promotes health and discipline within his community. This year, he is training to run the Boston Marathon while fundraising for Cradles to Crayons—embodying his belief that growth comes from choosing what is difficult and using it to serve others. He has also partnered with Crafting Tomorrow, helping young people think critically and responsibly about artificial intelligence, equipping the next generation with both the tools and the ethical foundation to lead.

Omar’s story is a powerful reflection of San Miguel’s long-term investment in its students. Omar always had the potential, but San Miguel provided him with the opportunity and support. We are incredibly proud of Omar and are excited to see what his future holds.

P.S. You can be part of Omar’s story—and the next one. An investment in San Miguel’s Graduate Support Program ensures our alumni have the guidance, resources, and network to thrive. The next Omar is already on his way.
